It was a Blustery day at the ranch today, 50 mile an hour gusts, 30 mile and hour sustained NNW winds and the temp dropped below freezing. Chris was in the 2 man stand and I was in the homemade by the creek bed. About 9:00 am I moved out of the tree stand and sat by the creek bed to get out of the wind ( I know I’m a wimp).
I started rattling and a 4 pointer damn near ran in to me, he just walked away. minutes later a young 8 Pointer did the same, as I was rattling he was running right at me. He stopped about 15 feet from me. I had the sights on him, but I let him go.
After Lunch we went back out heading to the South side of the property because of the wind. Me and Chris stayed together this time. I was rattling over the creek bed and a 10 pointer came running in front of us, but he kept going. We kept going around the creek to the West and scared up a few does.
After not seeing any more we went back in our stands around 4pm.
I turned and saw a doe running behind me, Her tongue was out and she was panting, just after she went in the creek bed a little 4 point came after, She ditched him and got away.
I heard a couple of honlks from the house and when we got back in, My Cuddeback was at the door step.
Cool, I need to get batteries and I’ll set it up tomorrow, Stay tuned..
