When I first moved here last year I saw 1 covey of quail. I used to hunt Quail in WI and missed this. Because of the ice storm a couple of years ago and other reasons, the quail population was very low.
I decided that I would Buy day old chicks from www.birdsofbrilliance.com in Milford Kansas.
I am going to continue to do this every year to hopefully help the quail coming back to the area. Hopefully next year I will get a Surragator for field releases.
This year I built an area in and old building that had an open area for the birds to see the outdoors, they ganged up at the window and door every day, looking forward to their new home.
The day they were released was great, they all took off in different directions and soon covey’d up.
A couple of days later 1 covey of about 10 birds came back wandering around the property, and we can Hear them singing every morning and evening all over the property. What a Great Sound!!!
