After a miserable opening day, Tuesday brought better weather but a different wind. The bucks are still around as you could see from the Cuddeback pics from yesterday.
Gary tried a few different areas, seeing a few doe. The bucks must be staying in the Milo fields or just staying bedded down.
I guess its time for a change of tactics. Kansas Farm hunting has it downfalls, acres of fields, corn, milo, soy.
The bucks can get deep into the fields and unless you push them out, they will just stay until dark.
The rubs and scrapes are getting more and more noticable. With the cooler weather we have had lately, the rut may start sooner this year, it’ll be time to start rattling to get those big bucks up and moving.
Last year around this time I went out and sat by a tree and rattled awhile and had 2 bucks curiously get closer and closer to me, unlike during the rut when they came running right at me.
When you hunt Kansas farm Land you need to use everything at your disposal to get those Monsters moving, Including some Jump shooting.
The pics from Monday night show the deer starting to fight.
I gave Gary a set of antlers for tomorrows hunt and told him to wake those bucks up, they’ll be curious if you are near them, and They will get up to see whos on their turf.
